EMIS acquires coveted UL Certification for its EMI/EMC Filters

UL Standards:

EMIS filters have been evaluated as per UL 60939-3 Standard for Passive Filter Units for Electromagnetic Interference Suppression-Part 3: Passive filter units for which safety tests are appropriate. UL 60939-3 is for appliance filters up to 1000 V AC and 1500 V DC and is harmonized with IEC 60939-3.

This is the prevalent industry standard for ensuring safe operation of devices in the United States. Adding the UL Certified Mark to IEC requirements allows access to global markets.

UL certification assures EMIS customers that the product has been rigorously tested by a 3rd party and found to operate in a safe and predictable manner at any installed location. The testing involved in the UL Certification mainly revolves around fitness and durability which requires each component in the product to be safety certified with UL marking.

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is an independent product safety certification organization in the United States that has been testing products and writing safety standards for over a 100 years. UL evaluates more than 19000 types of products, components, materials and systems annually with 20 billion UL marks appearing in over 66000 manufacturer’s products each year. Services offered by UL include inspection, advisory services, education and training, testing, auditing and analytics, certification software solutions, and marketing claim verification. Products that pass UL’s safety tests can put the UL mark on their products, which is an indication to the consumer that the product has been tested for safety by UL.

Apart from certification testing, in order to ensure the ongoing safety of UL approved products, UL also has a policy of surprise audits every 3 months from UL representatives. This is to continuously evaluate certified products and determine whether safety standards are being maintained and followed.
