Single Phase Reactor – 2% IMP

Line reactors are electromagnetic devices which consist of a steel core wrapped with copper inductor coils. The coil forms a magnetic field as current flows through it, which limits the rate of rise of current.

Especially when used in motor drive systems, they are called line or load reactors depending on the installed location.

  • AC Line reactor – installed before the VFD, protects the drive
  • AC Load reactor – installed after the VFD, protects the motor
  • DC Link reactor – inserted into the DC link of a drive

Single phase line reactors automatically act as harmonic current limiters, minimising exposure to power surges and fluctuations. Reactors can prevent overvoltage trips, improve total power factor, increase the reliability and life span of the power converters / motor drives.
